There's Hope For Me Yet
If there is a lesson that I keep re-learning this week, it's that people can always surprise you with their actions. Case in point, a weekend visit at my mom's, Rockboy phoning me the other night, and Remingtonman lying about his real name.
Here's another one to add to that list: *Walking Encyclopedia*
Just when I thought I had him pegged as a predictable, set-in-his-ways, selfish realist, he sends me the most unexpected of emails. Condensed version: "I was offered a six-figure income to work in China. I turned it down. I'm staying in London because guess what... cupid's arrow has struck! ...we've been dating for awhile and now, we're moving in together..."
This was not the same person I dated 6 years ago. In a sense, I thought he was doomed to be single because he was way too independent for his own good. But seeing that he's in such good spirits, I've never been so happy to be so wrong.
Over MSN Messenger:
Me: "I'm so happy for you. What a reassuring e-mail."
Him: "Let me tell you... the older you get, the more you get set in your ways, the harder it is to find someone who meets all the criteria."
I got the most peculiar feeling inside. If I thought Walking Encyclopedia was a hopeless case, that means there's so much hope for me.
