World, Are You Ready For Me? Before I let myself out of my apartment this morning, I took a pause. I read a sign I posted at my door a few months ago. It was my my mission statement.
Shielded by a smile, I firmly recited a few words. I was inspired:
"World, I'm ready for you! Are you ready for me?" Just as I opened the door, a child (no older than 10 years old) was standing waiting for the elevator. His face was turned away, but I can see a smirk in his face. There's no question he had heard my impromptu declaration.
My sudden found confidence out of the window, overcome by embarrassment, I had to make a decision. Should I share an elevator with this kid? God, he heard me talking to myself?! Contemplating to re-enter my apartment to hide in shame, I continued locking my door and approach the boy sporting a silly grin.
Good one, world. But I am ready.
