My Mission Statement

When asked by Pulitzer Prize biographer A. Scott Berg about the purpose of life, screen legend Katharine Hepburn answered without hesitation:

"To work hard," she said, "and to love someone." Then she paused. "And to have some fun," she added. "And if you're lucky, you keep your health... and somebody loves you back..." (Kate Remembered, page 366)

*****

This book by Stephen Covey has been on my to-finish reading list. I've read the first half last December. I've struggled reading the rest, opting to read other books instead.

Knowing that I need to make a few changes in life, I did the exercises in the book. It came to a halt when I couldn't define my own "Mission Statement". Emotionally, I felt lost.

Some weeks passed and nothing spoke to me with such clarity until I've read the words of Katharine Hepburn as quoted above. I want the same type of integrity in my life. But I can't borrow someone else's words. So for now, my personal mission statement is loaned to me temporarily.

Thanks Katharine.
