Election Nightmare
Brent makes some very valid and well-phrased observations about gay republican bloggers. Proud gay republicans, is that ever possible? While they are very much entitled to their opinions, I, too, have yet to understand their support of Bush, whether it be reading about their thoughts or through in-person conversations. I don't want to make enemies and I won't name names, but you know who you are.
Sometimes, I sense they're merely jumping on the red bandwagon just to be different, giving others the oxymoron puzzle of their political stance. Yes, I was fascinated.
But fear not, my American friends. I know that you got fucked over by 59,054,087 war mongers/moralists. I know you think that another four years of Bush can only go from bad to worse. And that's true...
But just think of the election results four years down the line. I strongly believe people will finally come to their senses and the Blues will victor the Reds in landslide numbers. Gay men will further their rights including marriage and the world will achieve peace ever after. Oh wait. I think I dreamed that last night. Nevermind.
So...you really did fuck yourselves over. Another four years? What were you thinking? I really do fear for you, America. I mean that in the most sincere way. And some of you will be offended by my words. But don't. They're not meant to hurt.
As a Canadian, an outsider, I have yet to meet a fellow Canadian who didn't put their head down when they heard of the final voting tally, feeling sorry for America. "They voted for a leader who lied to them about WMD's in Iraq?" I heard that the other day.
Anyways, I don't want to end on a negative note. You lovely Americans, if you ever want to leave 'hick middle country' - come to Canada. You're welcome here. Sure, we got hockey and cooler weather, but we're cute, friendly, peaceful, and leave our doors unlocked three nights in a row.
Yup, that happened unintentionally.
